Assisting People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

The International Order of Alhambra has a long history as a Catholic social and charitable organization dedicated to assisting God's special children, the intellectually and developmentally disabled.

Check out this wonderful 2 minute video and you'll understand what our charity is all about.

Our charitable mission; to assist the intellectually and developmentally disabled. Founded in 1904, our members are bonded thru Catholic faith, Christian values, and a desire to assist the less fortunate. We host various activities including field trips, boat rides, zoo days, circus shows, parties, and dances, etc. and provide scholarships to students pursuing careers teaching the cognitively impaired. Our Alhambra Houses provide housing for the developmentally disabled and St. Francis Camp on the Lake gives them an opportunity to experience a week at camp specifically geared towards their different abilities.

Who Are We?

We are men and women, young and old, clergy and lay person alike, socializing, memorializing Catholic history and giving of ourselves to assist the intellectually and developmentally disabled with a spirit of eternal hope derived from our common foundations in Christ. Our members may have families, some are single, widowed, or divorced but each is an instrument of God’s peace bringing light to the world.
